The Inaugural Climate Control Companies Association Conference

'Building INDUSTRY Performance' in Queenstown

27-30 October, 2011

The CCCA Conference was a huge success. 36 delegates and 17 partners enjoyed the Queenstown hospitality.

Jacqui Dean National MP for Waitaki officially opened the inaugural Conference at the 'Meet and Greet' function sponsored by ACM AHLERS on Thursday evening.

The partners headed off on Friday with 'credit card' in tow on an exclusive Arrowtown Tour sponsored by GRUNDFOS PUMPS NZ LTD and accompanied by tour guide Amanda Muir from HQ Queenstown.

The final installment of the ICEHOUSE 12 month program 'Building Business Performance' came to a close.  Leith Oliver presented a workshop/seminar based on 'A turnaround case study challenge and action plans'. Sponsored by ARNEG New Zealand limited, McAlpine Hussmann Ltd, Absolute AirConditioning & Refrigeration Ltd, Heatwave Mechanical Services (AK) Ltd, Economech Services Ltd and AIRPRO.

Thank you also to SECURIMAX Limited for sponsoring the Friday morning tea and GSB Group Buying Power for sponsoring the Friday BBQ Lunch.

The afternoon program included a presentation by Matthew Darby (RACE ITT) speaking about the Online Energy Course,  Voting and election of candidates to the CCCA Board, and Sector group meetings. Thank you to Refrigeration Specialities (Refspecs) for sponsoring the afternoon tea.

The Elections were held and your new CCCA Board was voted in: Rob Morgan (Chair, Suppliers & Manufacturers), Rodger Wyatt (Deputy Chair, HVAC Mechanical), Stephen Boyle (Refrigeration), John Kelly (Heat Pumps), Bob Batenburg (Ventilation), Darren Rawnsley (IRHACE), Greg McCarthy (co-opted), Grant Price (co-opted). Thank you to the Establishment Board for their hard work, time and dedication in managing the meeting and action requirements of CCCA to date. Thank you to Grant Price (Chair), Greg McCarthy (Deputy Chair), Rob Morgan (Membership), Malcolm Clark, Darren Rawnsley (IRHACE) and Dave Nicholls.

The Elected CCCA Board had their Induction meeting following the sector group meetings then it was time to enjoy the wonderful restaurants that Queenstown had to offer.

The Team Building Activity on Saturday morning (Queenstown Assault) included a photo challenge, cruise and challenge, gondola ride and luge racing. The photos are true testament to the amount of effort, fun and competition as the teams went head to head! Thank you to AIRPRO for sponsoring the lunch.

The Saturday afternoon program was presented by Bernard Hickey Financial and Business Commentator who delivered an interesting seminar/workshop based on 'What NZ might look like in an age of deleveraging, ageing & peak oil'.

Leaving the best to last the Conference closed with it's final event the Formal Gala Dinner sponsored by Temperzone Ltd.  The night went off with a bang which included Rob Morgan the new CCCA Chair welcoming and introducing Tony King from Temperzone Ltd to the stage.  Tony King spoke about the company, history and growth.  Just to re cap some important points:

  • Founded in 1956
  • New Zealand owned and operated, we are a private company with Head Office based in Auckland.
  • There are over 500 temperzone employees across the group.
  • Manufacturing quality air conditioning products from our factories in Auckland and Sydney sent around the world.
  • Diverse product range with something to suit almost every application
  • Local knowledge, expertise and backup service

The food was fabulous and the beverage continued to flow. The winning team was also announced from the team activity that morning and were invited up to the stage to receive their gold medal.  The winning team the 'Southern Cross Pirates' were Brian Hunter, Matthew Darby, Debbie Wyatt, Diane Cowman, Stephen Boyle, Darren Rawnsley, Terry Robson, Rob Morgan and Karen Martyn.

We were entertained with a show from 'Clever Fool' (Greg Ellis from Wellington and Kristy Gillespie from Christchurch) there was not a dry eye in the house...they were incredibly quick witted and very funny. We were also lucky enough to entice some of our audience up to the stage to assist with the entertainment. Thank you to all those delegates and partners that were brave enough to join in.

Everyone headed back to their origins Sunday morning.  Thank you Queenstown for your hospitality, memories and perfect weather - Pure Inspiration.

Look forward to seeing you in 2012.
